As the Writing Center provides support to students from first-year to graduate from across the disciplines, we’re especially eager to recruit students from diverse majors and language backgrounds. For students in a STEM major, the UWC also invites applications for a tuition award to cover the cost of the required tutor-education course, ENC 4275: Theory & Practice of Tutoring Writing, as well as the cost of textbooks for this course. The application for the Atkins Endowed Award for STEM University Writing Center Tutor Education is provided here, and is due by May 22, 2015.

The UWC now offers an easy way for faculty to refer students to us for ongoing writing development. Referred students can meet with the same consultant at a regularly-scheduled time each week during the semester, to focus not merely on fixing a single piece of writing, but on building skills for future writing tasks.
