About The UWC
What Is The UWC?
The University Writing Center is a campus resource that offers free individual and small-group consultations to UCF community members, for any writing in any situation. Our purpose is not merely to fix papers but to teach writers strategies to understand and to navigate complex situations for writing, both in and outside the University.
Our tutors (also called consultants) are UCF graduate and undergraduate students, all of whom take our comprehensive three-credit course “Theory & Practice of Tutoring Writing” and participate in ongoing professional development throughout their time at the UWC.
Access the class slideshow presentation showcasing the services the writing center offers.
You can learn more about our staff and tutors in About Our People.
The University Writing Center has a dual mission:
- to provide individual and small-group writing support to all members of the UCF community.
- to provide student peer tutors of writing with a rich teaching and learning experience and ongoing professional development in writing center research, theory, and tutoring practice.

Library Consultation Station
Enter the library through the main doors on the second floor. Walk straight ahead until you reach the Research/Information desk (a large circular library help desk). Just to the left of the Research/Information desk is an enclosed glass consultation station—look for the UWC signs on the doors.
